Hello, i'm

Giovanna Dabner

Creative + Storyteller

I’ve been telling stories for as long as I can remember. As a child, I couldn’t afford gifts, so I gave what I had—words, images, and emotion, woven into PowerPoint presentations for my family. At ten years old, I stood in front of my entire school, leading a fundraiser for Haiti after the 2010 earthquake. And in high school, when I saw that Black History Month wasn’t being recognized in my small-town school, I didn’t just speak up—I created a documentary to shine a light on the stories that had been left out.

Storytelling isn’t just what I do—
it’s how I move through the world.

At first, I thought my path was in public relations, but the deeper I went, the more I realized my heart belonged elsewhere. PR gave me strategy, but creative direction gave me the freedom to build worlds, shape identities, and amplify voices that deserved to be heard.

Now, I lead creative teams, guiding projects from concept to execution across graphic design, videography, photography, and campaign strategy. I don’t just make things look good—I make them mean something. My work is rooted in research, collaboration, and pushing boundaries while staying true to the heart of a brand’s story.

Some of my proudest moments? Seeing IGNITE’s "Dare to Be" and "Time is Money" campaigns empower students. Leading the Humber's Very Own billboard project, ensuring frontline workers were seen and celebrated. Building Go Productions from a childhood hobby into a full-fledged creative business. And now, mentoring young creatives, helping them see the power in their own voices.

I consider myself a chameleon—adapting to any creative challenge, finding new ways to bring ideas to life. But if there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s that playing small doesn’t serve the world.

As Marianne Williamson once wrote:

"Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us."

Creativity isn’t just my career—it’s my language, my purpose, and the fire that keeps me moving forward. So whether I’m behind the camera, designing a campaign, or leading a team, I bring my full self to the work—"because when we let our own light shine, we give others permission to do the same".
